Our campus is at the heart of Norwich’s creative quarter, comprising brand-new state of the art facilities and including the recently acquired iconic Bank Plain building. We celebrate diversity and believe it to be at the core of any creative endeavour. Whatever your background, identity and prior experience, wherever you are from, we want you to bring your whole self to work each day, in an environment that recognises your unique contribution.
Central to the University’s mission to link creativity with the global challenges agenda, the Institute for Sustainable Worlds will bring together artists, designers, scientists, engineers, academics and wider industry collaborators to explore the dynamic interface between creative practice, scientific discovery, technological development and human experience.
The inaugural Director will lead the creation of the Institute’s character and work, based in our new Bank Plain development, establishing and delivering internationally significant multi-partner research projects, generating research income and ensuring significant cultural, societal and economic impact.
Building on our interdisciplinary strengths, our centrality to the community within which we sit and our internationally recognised technological environment, you will make a sustainable, ethical, and radical difference to an increasingly complex world. Using a creative focus, you will bring together a range of disciplines to develop and deliver new solutions to global challenges, attract new thinkers to our community and engage a broad cross section of the academic community alongside external partners, government, industry, and civil society.
You will be an ambitious and entrepreneurial research leader in an appropriate field, able to demonstrate a commitment to building innovative interdisciplinary teams, together with the vision and tenacity to create a transformative Institute.
