People, purpose and place sit at the heart of UWE Bristol’s Strategy 2030. It is an institution which is always looking to improve – from extending its impact through strategic collaborations and interdisciplinary partnerships, to refining its structures, systems, processes and governance to be faster, more agile and more effective. Consequently, three colleges are being created through which the next stage of UWE Bristol’s development will be delivered. 

The Pro Vice-Chancellor Head of the College of Business and Law will lead over 300 academic staff supporting 9,000 students. Housed in a £55 million building completed in 2017, the College combines a commitment to outstanding teaching and research with a real-world focus on collaboration with business, the professions and the community. It is proud to be at the forefront of the disciplines in which it specialises and is determined that its work promotes ethical practices and has a genuine, lasting impact on the world, as well as equipping all its students for confident and successful futures. Fundamental to the College’s future success will be working closely with other Colleges to deliver relevant teaching and research programmes.

The appointed candidate will provide visionary leadership, responsible for delivering key objectives aligned to the University’s strategic aims and values. They will lead the College Executive Team to deliver excellence across the full range of academic activities, advancing the education, research and enterprise portfolios and enhancing the student and staff experience. They also will develop and promote the profile and reputation of the College and University externally – nationally and internationally.  

As Pro Vice-Chancellor and a member of the University’s Executive Team, they will lead on cross-institutional ventures and make a significant contribution to the leadership and delivery of the University’s strategic plan.  

Applicants must be enterprising, innovative, inclusive, ambitious and collaborative. They will be able to evidence achievement as empowering, engaging and values-led leaders with emotional intelligence and a commitment to interdisciplinarity.
